My Creative Classroom and Craft Classes Online Students,

Over the past 10 years I have had the wonderful experience of joining you on your creative journey.  But it is now time for me to begin a new journey.  I have accepted a position in education helping others navigate the higher education process.  It is an new and exciting adventure for me.
It has been a great honor for me to be able to work with so my wonderful teachers and students as we shared our creative journey together.  I hope each of you will continue your journey.  I know I will be busy playing with paper and paint.  Art journaling has become a new and wonderful obsession for me.

My classrooms will remain open until Feb 2019, which should give you plenty of time to review all of the course materials. To access your classrooms please log on at www.coursecraft.net.  If you have any questions you can contact me at workshopsbyjeri@gmail.com.

Color Pencil Projects

Earlier this week I showed you how to burnish using colored pencils.  It is a fun technique that can help make your images pop.

My finished project for this week's technique is an art journaling page for my happiness journal.

Color Pencil Techniques-Burnishing

I am sure most of you have a set of colored pencils in your stash.  I got mine after Becky Higgins used them to create titles for her scrapbooks.

Unfortunately they were one of those items destined to gather dust in my studio.  Years later I would pull them out and begin to explore their many possibilities.

I used to think of colored pencils as a single-use color medium.  One that does not offer much in the way of variety.  I couldn't have been more wrong.

May Quote of the Month

New month....new quote.  This month our quote focuses on defining our own stories rather than allowing others to do it for us.

"This is my life, my story, my book.  I will no longer let anyone else write it.  nOt will I apologize for the edits I make."
Your challenge is to make a visual representation of the quote.  You can share it on our Facebook group, or post a link to your blog in the comments section.  I would love to see your take on this quote.

Leaning to Let Go-April Quote of the Month

Learning to let go of control is an important aspect of the artist process.  The more one controls the harder it is for creativity to flow.  But that does not keep us from trying. 😉

This month's quote focuses on the need to let go.

"You must learn to let go.  Release the stress.  You were never in control anyway."

Read on to learn how I created this month's project.

Ditch the Paintbrush......Projects

Earlier this week I shared options for applying paint without a brush.  I also shared that I am sinking deeper and deeper into the art journaling black hole.  YIKES!

I will admit I am really enjoying the journey.  I now spend time each morning playing in my new Dylusions journal.  I got the smaller one, which is perfect for me.  I like tiny.  Today I am sharing my first page with the world.

April-Quote of the Month

This month's quote is about letting go.....of control.  (I see a watercolor piece in my future.  I love working with watercolors because they take on a life of their own, outside of my control.)

"You must learn to let go.  Release the stress.  Your were never in control anyway."

Your challenge is to make a visual representation of the quote.  You can share it on our Facebook group, or post a link to your blog in the comments section.  I would love to see your take on this quote.

Embrace the Uncertainty....March Quote of the Month

March's quote was-Trust the wait. Embrace the uncertainty.  Enjoy the beauty of becoming.  When nothing is certain, everything is possible.  For me this quote hits home,  I am in a period of transition and I am not quite sure what the future will bring.  It is a reminder to enjoy the moment and all of possibilities it holds.

For this quote I went back to my vintage roots.  I started my mixed media journey at the height of the vintage movement. Today, I tend to gravitate towards brighter colors.  From time to time, I feel the pull of vintage and this time I went with the inspiration.
